Experience the true beauty of the Ciucaș Mountains, a truly unique massif. It is situated in the Carpathian’s Bend, southeast of Brașov. It’s natural beauty will most likely leave you speechless. The tour we invite you to be a part of is a circuit tour, meaning we won’t visit the same places twice. The Ciucaș Mountains are relatively humble in size, but very gifted. Nature has indeed been extremely generous with this massif.
Description
12-15 km medium difficulty hike, approx. 1200 m elevation height, total hiking time: 5 – 6 hours. This trip is recommended for hikers that are not for the first time on a mountain and have a bit of experience on how to approach various terrains. Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level.
Mandatory gear:
Hiking boots and clothes that suits the outside weather, back packs, rain coat, small snack, 2 L of water per adult and at least 700 ml of water/child
Recommended gear:
Hat, sun cream, ticks spray , hiking sticks
Ciucas Mountains Hiking Tour – Schedule:
Pick up time is at 8:30 A.M. from your accommodation in Brasov. Driving to Ciucas Mountains will take us around 1 hour. Right after we arrive, we start with a 3-4 hours hike to Ciucas Peak (1954 m). For our lunch break you can chose to try some local foods at the Ciucas cabin or you may bring with your some snacks and sandwiches. After lunch we are going to hike for another hour and half back to the car. We will return to Brasov around 5-6 P.M.

Discover the hidden beauty and variety of the Ciucaș Mountains
Firstly, the Ciucaș Mountains are very well known for their large collection of oddly shaped calcareous rocks. Natural occurrences such as “The Kissing Stones” are definitely a must see. If you decide to visit mid-May, you’ll discover the magical flowers of the mountains: the mountain rhododendrons. Their bright pink is impressive and they are a species protected by law. So we are allowed to look and take pictures, but not to pick them. The peak is no higher than 1945 m. This means that the massif is just under the tree line or a little above it. This place offers anything a passionate hiker might want: lush valleys, rivers and a marvelous icing on the peak which forms a beautiful karst scenery. There are many rock formations that have ignited people’s imagination, thus receiving various names. One of them is called “Old Women Talking”, another one is called “The Devil’s Hand”. However, there are numerous unnamed ones which are definitely an enchantment for the beholders.
Amongst the rich forests and amazing landscapes, the local food will also impress you. We may take the lunch at one of the local cabins at an extra price, or even visit the sheepfolds and taste the cheese specialties.
