DAY 1
Pick-up from Bucharest – Peleș Castle – Prejmer Fortified Church
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Bucharest (approx. 3.5 to 4 hours in total) through the Carpathian Mountains. You’ll visit the exquisite Peleș Castle, former summer residence of the Romanian Royal Family, and the stunning Cantacuzino Castle, also known as the “Wednesday Castle” because it was featured in the popular TV show Wednesday. Afterwards you’ll explore the UNESCO-listed fortified church of Prejmer. Later in the afternoon, you arrive in Brașov, where you can enjoy your first evening in this charming medieval city.

DAY 2
Brașov Old City Tour – Bran Castle – Free Time in Brașov
After a relaxed breakfast at your hotel of choice, explore Brașov’s beautiful old town with your guide: visit the Black Church, admire its medieval walls, take a walk through the Council Square and more. Then it’s time for Bran Castle, widely known as “Dracula’s Castle” (just a short drive away – about 1.5 hours total). You return to Brașov by afternoon, with plenty of free time. Your guide can recommend local restaurants, wine bars or cozy pubs based on your preferences.

DAY 3
Bear Sanctuary – Traditional Mountain Villages – Free Time in Brașov
Today starts with a heartwarming visit to the Bear Sanctuary in Zărnești, home to rescued brown bears. The Sanctuary spans 69 hectares of oak forest, offering the rescued bears the freedom they’ve long been denied. Some may even be released back into the wild—if they show they’re ready for it. Then, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of nearby mountain villages, with scenic views and quiet charm. The afternoon is again yours to enjoy Brașov at your own pace – shopping, relaxing, or discovering hidden corners of the old town.

DAY 4
Racoș Geological Complex – Viscri Saxon Village – Traditional Lunch – Arrival in Sighișoara
We leave Brașov in the morning and stop first at the Racoș Geological Complex – one of Romania’s most unique natural sites, with a dormant volcano, basalt columns and a striking emerald lake (short walks, total drive 2.5 hours split in stages). Next stop: Viscri, the famous Saxon village, dearly beloved by King Charles. Here you’ll enjoy a homemade lunch at a local Saxon household, included in the price of the tour – fresh food straight from the surrounding farms, served in a warm, countryside setting. The meal includes a traditional set menu with soup, a main course, dessert, and a refreshing glass of socată – a naturally fermented elderflower drink, popular in Romania for its sweet taste. In the evening, you arrive in Sighișoara, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval citadels.

DAY 5
Sighișoara Old City Tour – Biertan Fortified Church – Arrival in Sibiu
Stroll through Sighișoara’s cobbled streets, admire its colorful buildings and discover the Clock Tower and birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. After the tour, head to Biertan, another UNESCO-listed fortified church, which once served as the religious center for the Transylvanian Saxon community. A beautiful drive through the rolling hills of Transylvania, passing small, cozy villages (approx. 1.5 hours), takes you to Sibiu, just in time to settle in and enjoy the city’s lively atmosphere. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a guided Sibiu City Tour to explore the charming Old Town and its impressive squares and bridges.

DAY 6
Choose between Transfăgărășan Highway & Albota Fish Farm or ASTRA Open-Air Museum & Sibiel Village
On Day 6, you’ll have the chance to choose between two exciting experiences. If you choose to explore the Transfăgărășan Highway (seasonal from mid-June to the end of October), you’ll also visit the Albota Fish Farm, where you’ll enjoy a peaceful, nature-filled experience.
If you choose the Transfăgărășan experience, you’ll travel on one of the most spectacular mountain roads in the world. The roads will take you through the peaks of the Carpathians, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains and glacier lakes. Along the way, you’ll stop to admire incredible landscapes, and at one point, you’ll have the chance to visit Bâlea Lake, a stunning spot perfect for a photo break.
Alternatively, you can spend the day at the ASTRA Open-Air Museum, one of Europe’s largest ethnographic museums. It’s an outdoor museum where you can see traditional houses, mills, and farm buildings from different parts of Romania. You’ll learn about how people lived in the past, what tools they used, and how they worked the land. It’s a great way to see the history and culture of rural Romania up close.
Later in the day, you’ll visit the picturesque village of Sibiel, known for its authentic rural charm and the largest collection of painted glass icons in Romania. This peaceful village offers a glimpse into traditional village life and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

DAY 7
Departure Day – Transfer to Airport
If you’re flying out of Bucharest, today will be dedicated to your transfer (approximately 4.5 hours through the scenic Olt Valley). We’ll ensure you arrive comfortably and on time. If your flight is later in the day, we may be able to include a few more interesting stops along the way.
If you’re departing from Sibiu or Brașov, we can adjust the itinerary to include additional sights on your way to the airport, depending on your flight time. Just let us know your details, and we’ll customize the day to fit your schedule!
